Winter Gear Drive :: Thank You!
Hi Wellspring,
Once again, you have amazed us with your generosity! Our Winter Gear Drive was a huge success. We have begun to distribute the items that were donated, and our unhoused neighbors are deeply grateful for your generosity.
In total, over the course of the drive, we at Wellspring collected:
194 Winter Coats
111 Sleeping Bags
14 Emergency Blankets
76 Winter Hats
52 Pairs of Gloves
32 Tarps
7 Sleeping Pads
And a bunch of other gear!
In addition to the donations we received at Wellspring, Craig Hospital in Englewood got word of the Drive through Change the Trend. They encouraged their staff to donate, and filled five SUV’s full of gear!
The proceeds are being distributed throughout the city - in The Well, at Severe Weather Shelter Network voucher sites, by police departments, and by other non-profits. Last week, one of our homeless friends stopped by Wellspring after his sleeping gear had been stolen. It was such an encouragement to be able to offer him another sleeping bag. He said he felt like he was in a country club!
Thank you once again, Wellspring, for giving yourselves to serve the needs of our vulnerable neighbors during this season of prolonged crisis. Through your generosity, the Kingdom is truly breaking into our city.
