Family Discipleship Questions

  1. What is the first thing Jesus says to His disciples?  (Peace be with you)

  2. What is the second thing Jesus says to them? (Peace be with you.  As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you”)

  3. What is the third thing He says? (Receive the Holy Spirit.  If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld”

  4. Discuss as a family why peace is the first thing Jesus says.  (The disciples were behind a locked door and fearful.)

  5. How are we fearful today?  Where can Jesus speak peace into our lives?

  6. The second thing He does is give them more peace and then sends them out.  How can our family be peacemakers in our world today?

  7. Lastly, does our family receive the Holy Spirit and extend forgiveness? Discuss ways your family extends forgiveness and acknowledge if there are situations/people that are hard to forgive.

Confession

Lord, we confess that we have sinned against you in many ways. Apart from you, we sin. We pray to vulnerably and openly share with you and each other the ways we hold on to this world and do things that make us feel good or look good, instead of choosing your way. Lord please help us forgive others as you have forgiven us.
