Happy New Year Wellspring,

I am looking forward to beginning the New Year with you and discovering what God has for us in 2022!

Every year our Diocese assembles for the annual Synod at the beginning of February. Some may ask: ‘What is a Synod?’ and ‘What is Diocese?’ A Diocese is simply a region under the pastoral care of a Bishop. Our Diocese, composed of about 35 congregations, is overseen by Bishop Ken Ross. A Synod is a gathering of clergy and laity from within the Diocese. Simply put, a Diocesan Synod is a gathering of churches under our Bishop’s care and leadership.

I am pleased to announce that Wellspring will be hosting this year's Diocesan Synod from February 7th-9th. The theme of this year's Synod is the Holy Spirit. While there will be many breakout sessions and sermons over the course of three days, I want to specifically invite you to the opening Eucharist on Monday night from 6:30pm - 8:30pm (no registration required). The title of the evening sermon is: The Holy Spirit in Worship. The preacher will be Bishop Thad Barnum. Bishop Thad is a passionate follower of Jesus who lives a life of surrender to the gospel and a wholehearted devotion to discipleship. He leads a ministry called Call2Disciple

In addition to the opening Eucharist, Bishop Thad will be speaking at the plenary sessions about the Holy Spirit in Discipleship, Mission and being filled with the Holy Spirit. There will also be some great breakout sessions led by others in our Diocese. If you want to find out more or register, you can access the registration link here

I am deeply grateful for each of you!

All for Jesus,

Billy+
