A Winter of Homeless Ministry During a Pandemic - and How You Can Help!

Hi Wellspring,

As the colder weather approaches, we are gearing up to care for our friends who are living on the streets without shelter.

Through our leadership of the Change the Trend Network, Wellspring is partnered with the Severe Weather Shelter Network (SWSN), a ministry which seeks to partner with local churches to provide sites to host individuals experiencing homelessness overnight. This year, in response to COVID-19, SWSN is pivoting to offer shelter in motels every severely cold or snowy night throughout the winter months.  When sheltered, guests are provided a hot, homemade meal to enjoy. Aside from supplying a safe, warm environment overnight, SWSN also connects guests with other resources as their needs become known.

Here is where you can help! SWSN is looking for volunteer support in the area of meal preparation and delivery. Food volunteers will provide a hot meal for the guests by bringing their prepared dish to the host motels on evenings when the SWSN is activated.

If you are interested in serving our community in this way, please reach out to Theo Young, our Compassion Ministry Coordinator, for more details.

Thanks,

Mike Sandgren
