The Weekly Liturgy :: Week of 1/9/22

Gather - We begin our Liturgy in corporate worship by coming together and acknowledging who God is through the Acclamation. God’s character and presence frames our corporate worship and this is also the way we begin our Weekly Liturgy whether we engage it personally or in a group setting.

  • How did you experience God’s character and presence this week (joys, struggles, breakthroughs)?

Word - We desire for God’s Word to always be on our minds, upon our lips, and deep in our hearts. We want to read, reflect, listen, and respond to God’s word as we are formed more deeply as disciples of Jesus.

Read Psalm 67 and John 20:19-23

Reflect on these passages either individually or with others. You can also use these questions:

  1. Based on the reading of scripture or preaching of Psalm 67, what stood out to you?

  2. When you first started to attend Wellspring, what were your initial impressions/questions about the sending section of the service (blessings, recessional, and dismissal)?

  3. When you think about being sent to participate in bringing awareness to Christ's universal reign (Psalm 67:4-7), what is your primary thought? (it's too abstract, it seems too big, what does that mean, this is awesome, etc...) Why?

    1. Do you still feel that way when you think about the power of small things to reveal God's universal rule? (ie...5 loaves and 2 fish, Moses' staff, Joshua's trumpet at Jericho, etc...)?

    2. What small thing have you seen done in your life that has made a big difference in revealing Jesus to you?

  4. Ps. 67:1-2 splices together the Aaronic blessing from Numbers 6 and the promise to Abraham in Genesis 12. In what ways have you seen God's blessings in your life beit in how God has created/redeemed you or the gifts He has entrusted to you?

  5. Describe a time when you were a blessing to someone else? What was that like?

  6. How would you finish this sentence: 'God has blessed and sent me to....'

  7. Read 1 Corinthians 2:2-3. How has God used your weakness to reveal His power through you?

  8. How would you finish this sentence: 'God has called me to pick up my cross especially in the area of...'

  9. In light of this passage, what is the Holy Spirit saying to you?

  10. Please take some time and pray for the Blaine family and Christ the King Church as they launch out this week.

Listen to the Holy Spirit. How is God speaking to you through this passage?

  • Respond through confession and repentance.

    • Questions to engage either corporately or silently: What have you put in place of God or given your heart to this week? What sin do you need to repent of? What area are you not trusting your identity is in Christ? Encourage one another to turn to God and receive his forgiveness and grace. (Consider praying our Corporate Confession together).

Prayer - Spend a few minutes praying into the areas God has spoken to you about. Pray for one another, for the non-believers in your lives, and for the world. (Consider praying through the Lord’s Prayer).

Sending - We are all called and sent out into the world to bring the message of the Gospel. Where are you being sent this week to share Jesus through your actions and words? Is there a specific person or area you need to reach out to or pray for?
